Gregary, I feel with you, because the problem also affects me. But I'm afraid this would not help... I don't think many people even take the time to read these `little details'. The only thing we could really do is:
1) Hide the openSUSE product so well that people will only find it if they are actually looking for it - would not do much harm because real openSUSE bugs are quite rare
2) Change the default owner of these bugs to us (screening team), which would also not do too much harm because as you already mentioned: Most of these bugs are SL bugs anyway. This would shift the problem to us.

Well... OpenOffice.org is also a website you know ;) I'm perfectly getting your point but I'm afraid this wouldn't help a bit... I also placed a big fat box on the report a bug explaining this. After all, it got much better the last few months, but it's still an issue. We still could rename it in a way that is clearly _not_ SL, like `opensuse.org Wiki' or sth. like that.
Andreas: Can you either help us in solving this problem or make us the default assignee here?
Gregary: How many real bugs are we talking about per day? If it's not more than about 5 bugs we can take it ;)
So far, no more than one or two bugs a day go to openSUSE/bugzilla. Only about 20% of them have anything to do with bugzilla. The default assignee is bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com, which is fine with us. The default QA contact is novbugzilla-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com -- it would be nice if you could change this to someone else so we don't get the email about SUSE Linux 10.x bugs. :-) Forgot to change status. I understand... I'll assign this to Andreas. Let's wait for him. Two more ideas: - add a big fat notice at https://bugzilla.novell.com/enter_bug.cgi?product=openSUSE stating that this product is not for reporting problems with SUSE Linux - add a component "other" for those who still didn't get it ;-) (and hope they are clever enough to see that their bug does not match "bugzilla" or "wiki"...) The component "other" would also cover problems with the mailing list archives, suse.* domains etc. - these are things that are not related to SUSE Linux X.Y and currently have to go to the (wrong) component "wiki" as "least wrong" choise ;-) Done now. |
