running "System update" in yast with factory tree as installation source via NFS, yast first did "delete kernel-smp" and after that realized that the installation source is more recent than the version being used before.

so installation can't continue and there is no kernel installed anymore :-(

yast really should check such global parameters _before_ starting the update and removing packages...

Harald, with Beta4 the backend for the packager changes completely, that includes the handling of dependencies. I will close this bug now and you should wait until 10.1 is in the RC-phase before reporting/reopening a bug of that sort as the whole thing is in a very stage of development.
