y2log trying to install kernel-default.ppc on i686

Description peter czanik 2006-02-17 20:00:34 UTC
I'm installing beta4 now. During package installation I got a popup window saying, that installation of an i586 package failed. I'll attach a screen capture of the VNC window.

I guess the y2logs would be more helpful than a screenshot - please attach them ;-)
Comment 3 Christian Boltz 2006-02-17 23:55:38 UTC
could be related to bug #151954
Comment 4 peter czanik 2006-02-18 02:10:24 UTC
As it's a 9MB file, bugzilla did not allow to attach y2logs. See http://www.mkk.szie.hu/~czanik/y2.tgz

I took a look at my ftp server logs. Most (but not all) of the i586 packages tried to install were those I selected by hand. But not all hand selected packages were tried to install as i586.

y2log trying to install kernel-default.ppc on i686

I ran into this issue performing an FTP install on my x86 machine. It failed to install kernel-default-2.6.16_rc3_git3-2.ppc.rpm, as well as grub-0.97-3.x86_64.rpm.
Comment 8 Klaus Kämpf 2006-02-20 15:45:23 UTC
Needs ARCH filtering

Comment 10 Duncan Mac-Vicar 2006-02-21 14:17:26 UTC
Ok , arch filtering needs to be done in the pool. Not at parser level. And this requires Arch class "compatible with" feature to be fixed in Arch.
Comment 11 Duncan Mac-Vicar 2006-02-22 13:20:48 UTC
This was implemented by Michael, so it should appear in next beta.
Comment 12 Duncan Mac-Vicar 2006-03-01 09:24:41 UTC
I will close this bug as arch filtering is implemented. Please reopen if needed.
