Description Harald Koenig 2006-02-27 15:53:21 UTC
trying a NFS installation from beta-5 (factory Feb. 23) y2base needs more than 3 CPU-minutes and ~340 MB memory and writes ~34 MB y2log just before I can to any installation setup changes (e.g. changing partitioning, selecting more RPMs).

then started the package manager and added some more RPMs. it took ~30 CPU minutes and ~95 MB y2log all together until I'm back in the installation settings where I finally can start the installation...

both the CPU time needed, and memopry requirements and size of log file are far from being optimal, even for a "beta" (not pre-pre-alpha) test...

The logging of yast in later betas is really extensive. This should be reduced. But I don't think the memory consumption is caused by this. 95MB sounds OK for me, but 340M is a bit much. Think this is caused by the packager.
