Description Chase Stephens 2006-03-04 23:59:49 UTC
I am able to configure my wireless card using YaST, but it isn't displayed in network manager or when using ifconfig. I've tried both the network applet and the traditional management modes in YaST, with the same result.
Comment 1 Chase Stephens 2006-03-05 00:01:26 UTC
I'm using a Sony Vaio VGN-FS760/W
Comment 2 Michael Gross 2006-03-06 11:36:33 UTC
Please attach the Yast logfiles (/var/log/YaST2) and the directory /etc/sysconfig/network.

This just won't work, as you don't have the firmware package installed. Please note: We don't ship this package on the CDs -- but you can get it via the extra tree at:

ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/10.1/SUSE-Linux10.1-Beta6-Extra/suse/noarch/ipw-firmware-7-2.noarch.rpm

This should be docmented at a highly visible place, to avoid confusion. See my comments in BUG#144403 about this.
