Description Martin Schlander 2006-03-06 21:00:49 UTC
My floppy drive does not "work" - I've installed beta6 on both my desktop and my laptop - the issue is the same on both machines.

The installation probes for floppy drive.

After installation there is no mention of a floppy drive in /etc/fstab (unlike in 10.0).

There is a floppy drive posted under "My computer" (KDE) but clicking the icon gives an error message.

There is no /media/floppy/, which is the mountpoint used for floppy on 10.0

There is however a /dev/fd0 - and if I manually mount that device it works just fine.

What message does it give you?
AFAIK for these devices will no longer get added to the fstab (exchangable devices), this is getting handled by HAL and KDE/Gnome.

The KDE/Konqueror error message I get when clicking floppy icon in "My computer" is the following:

Method "Mount" with signature "ssas" on interface "org.freedesktop.Hal.Device.Volume" doesn't exist

Please attach the output of `lshal' - that there is no entry in the fstab is normal as mentioned.

both my laptop and my desktop (both 10.1b6 w/ KDE) have the exact same error - therefore I've attached both lshal outputs - see comments #4+#5.

Reassigning to the KDE-maintainers.
