Description Michael Meeks 2006-03-08 10:01:54 UTC
I select 'All' the package updates from hazard.provo.novell.com ( on top of my upgraded-by-DVD-to B6 system ) with no updates as yet.

Hit 'Upgrade' in zen-updater and I get an unhelpful:

"Resolver Failed" <OK>

dialog box.

Thinking this may be related to the inordinate number of packages I have selected I click 'None' select '3ddiag' and hit Update again: the same behavior.

zmd-7.1.1-12
zen-updater-7.1.0-10

At least this is consistent:

michael@linux:/opt/OpenOffice/ooo-build> sudo rug update
Resolving Dependencies...

ERROR: Dependency resolution failed:
Resolver Failed

This looks like a dup of bug #152585. This is fixed post beta 6.

The workaround:

0. Install by hand the packages of rug/zmd/libzypp/libzypp-backend from beta 6.
1. Get the packages from http://w3.suse.de/~kkaempf/libzypp and install them
2. Get the packages from http://w3.suse.de/~maw/20060306 and install them
3. /etc/init.d/novell-zmd restart

and you shouldn't get any further issue related to the Resolver.
