Description Daniel Bornkessel 2006-03-08 16:18:10 UTC
Could you please include at least the tomcat5 and its dependencies on the CDs?
It's together with eclipse the one of the most popular Java applications.
Furthermore, a few more jakarta packages would be nice as well, most importantly
jakarta-commons-digester
jakarta-commons-discovery
jakarta-commons-el
jakarta-commons-httpclient3

Thanks,
Daniel

Uuups, same with eclipse: It only contains
eclipse-platform
which is not of any use for the users. In order to have a complete eclipse, you need the following packages:
eclipse-platform
eclipse-jdt
eclipse-3.1.2
eclipse-gtk2
eclipse-scripts
eclipse-pde

Comment 2 Andreas Jaeger 2006-03-09 13:37:13 UTC
How large are these files?
Comment 3 Daniel Bornkessel 2006-03-09 14:31:18 UTC
- eclipse-pde is actually not that important.
- eclipse-platform is part of eclipse required by the package eclipse-gtk2, which again is required by eclipse. So we should either include all the eclipse components or neither of them:

 15K eclipse-gtk2.rpm
 22M eclipse-jdt.rpm
 47M eclipse-platform.rpm (!!!!already included!!!!)
5.0K eclipse.rpm
5.6K eclipse-scripts.rpm

For tomcat5 & friends (total 9.9M)
223K jakarta-commons-beanutils.rpm
 51K jakarta-commons-codec.rpm
484K jakarta-commons-collections.rpm
 30K jakarta-commons-daemon.rpm
107K jakarta-commons-dbcp.rpm
176K jakarta-commons-digester.rpm
 71K jakarta-commons-discovery.rpm
107K jakarta-commons-el.rpm
 23K jakarta-commons-fileupload.rpm
 33K jakarta-commons-httpclient3-demo.rpm
633K jakarta-commons-httpclient3-manual.rpm
204K jakarta-commons-httpclient3.rpm
168K jakarta-commons-lang.rpm
 43K jakarta-commons-launcher.rpm
 57K jakarta-commons-logging.rpm
111K jakarta-commons-modeler.rpm
 46K jakarta-commons-pool.rpm
 90K jakarta-commons-validator.rpm
299K jakarta-taglibs-standard.rpm
1.3M tomcat5-admin-webapps.rpm
2.3M tomcat5.rpm
1.9M tomcat5-webapps.rpm

** documentation (could be left out) **
136K jakarta-commons-beanutils-javadoc.rpm
 55K jakarta-commons-codec-javadoc.rpm
472K jakarta-commons-collections-javadoc.rpm
 19K jakarta-commons-daemon-javadoc.rpm
 65K jakarta-commons-dbcp-javadoc.rpm

Comment 4 Andreas Jaeger 2006-03-09 14:48:45 UTC
eclipse was not on the CD media on 10.0, let's remove it completley for 10.1.

This give us space for jakarta (without documentation). Both together is not possible.
Comment 5 Daniel Bornkessel 2006-03-09 15:21:21 UTC
Mmmm, well ... eclipse is THE development platform for Java people. Will there be a complete Beta7 tree where I can point external people to who miss eclipse then?
I could only find sources that include the CD media (I understand 'factory' == stable, right?).
Will it be on the DVDs?
But it makes a lot of sense to remove a non-usable eclipse-component in order to include tomcat5, yes.
Regards,
Daniel

Comment 7 Lars Vogdt 2006-03-09 18:12:47 UTC
ok. I adedd the "jakarta selection" and removed eclipse from the CD set.
I'll run a few tests next days to see if we've got some more space left on CDs.
Comment 8 Andreas Jaeger 2006-03-10 07:29:49 UTC
It will be on the DVD9 for the retail product and it's on the external factory tree which we freeze with 10.1 GM.

I just do not have an extra 22 MB right now.

I keep this open and will investigate after beta8 again.
Comment 9 Andreas Jaeger 2006-03-17 19:58:06 UTC
tomcat needs some packages that are only on the extra repository so that I cannot add it to the CDs. It's on the DVD9.
