Description David Binderman 2006-03-08 19:25:11 UTC
I have made the experience that a lot of email addresses
in the *.spec files are either dead or broken.

Suggest someone needs to check that the email addresses published
in the *.spec files for authors & maintainers are alive and
well and someone at the far end is reading the emails.

I know this is a lot of work because there are something like
2,500 *.spec files, but why publish something if you haven't
checked it's veracity ?

At least it would avoid sending bug reports to /dev/null ;->

The homepage of the product is the one that should be accurate and if it isn't that's worth a bugreport.

WE cannot check all the email addresses, I see no chance there...

I have to agree, besides the fact that checking an e-mail address for its validity is not as trivial as it sounds. Providing a correct email-address is the responsibility of the upstream-maintainer of the package. I'm closing this report now.
