Description Juergen Orschiedt 2006-03-08 21:35:04 UTC
Since Beta4, I can't get galeon to work anymore.
Even after cleaning by

galeon-config-tool --clean
sudo galeon-config-tool --clean-schemas
sudo galeon-config-tool --install-schemas
sudo galeon-config-tool --fix-gconf-permissions

galeon keeps failing.

Attached you'll find the bug-buddy report.

Comment 2 Juergen Orschiedt 2006-03-13 16:52:52 UTC
Problem still in Beta7...
Comment 3 Stanislav Brabec 2006-03-13 16:57:20 UTC
We probably need update to version 2.0.1, which should be compatible with xulrunner.
Comment 4 Stanislav Brabec 2006-03-15 16:37:01 UTC
I have upgraded to 2.0.1. It declares to be compatible, but craashes, too. And out of the box it does not even compile due to missing nsICookiePromptService.h.

To Robert O'Callahan: Can you look at it?

Please note, that galeon is a low priority package, and if it will not work, we can report it upstream and wait for a new version.

The version 2.0.1 was submitted to Autobuild anyway.

Backtrace.
Comment 6 JP Rosevear 2006-03-22 20:37:33 UTC
I think we should just report this upstream stanislav.
Comment 7 Stanislav Brabec 2006-03-23 13:02:48 UTC
Low priority package. Will wait for upstream.

Comment 8 Stanislav Brabec 2006-03-24 10:26:25 UTC
Upstream reply:
This is caused by xulrunner being compiled without "permissions" extension
(--enable-extensions=default,permissions).
Comment 9 Wolfgang Rosenauer 2006-03-24 10:34:24 UTC
hmm, we added the nsIPermission interface just because Epiphany and Galeon.
So it's still not enough for Galeon. Is this for sure?
Comment 10 Stanislav Brabec 2006-03-24 12:52:56 UTC
Independent reply from upstream:
Erm, it's the missing "cookie" extension not the "permissions" extension that's
causing this failure, sorry.
Comment 11 Robert O'Callahan 2006-03-26 20:40:50 UTC
We don't really want to add the cookie module to xulrunner, because it's not part of Mozilla's xulrunner. If we want Galeon to work with xulrunner I think the best we can do is to copy the cookie module into Galeon itself.

Galeon has been dropped for 10.2 and SLED 11.
