Description Dirk Mueller 2006-03-09 17:16:15 UTC
during upgrade 9.3->10.1b7, sax2 didn't show a gfx card information, and therefore it wasn't possible to enable 3D acceleration.

then in init 5, trying to change the configuration crashed the session.

then in init 3, sax2 -r -i comes up, but when clicking on "change configuration", it exists without error message.

The X-Server crashed while sax is calling another X-Server with
-probeonly. The log said:

   Fatal server error:
   EnterVT failed for screen 0

Comment 6 Stefan Dirsch 2006-03-10 11:06:47 UTC
Looks like a second Xserver can't be started when using the i810 driver. :-(
Comment 7 Stefan Dirsch 2006-03-10 11:14:06 UTC
> Looks like a second Xserver can't be started when using the i810 driver. :-(
Marcus told me that this does not occur in general with the i810 driver! There are notebooks with the same chipset, on which this problem does *not* occur.
Comment 8 Stefan Dirsch 2006-03-10 11:37:53 UTC
e.g. it can't be reproduced on our i945G testmachines.
Comment 9 Stefan Dirsch 2006-04-03 14:22:17 UTC
This should be tested again after switching to the new i810 driver (SUSE 10.2 Alpha). ==> LATER
