Description Berthold Gunreben 2006-03-10 13:42:24 UTC
Using a nvidia graphics card with Philips 200W monitor results in a maximum resolution of 1280x1024. The reason in the Xorg.0.log file seems to be:

(II) NV(0): Mode "1680x1050" is larger than BIOS programmed panel size of 1280 x 1024. Removing.
(II) NV(0): Not using mode "1680x1050" (unknown reason)

with the nvidia driver, I get the additional line
(II) NVIDIA(0): Adding EDID-provided mode "1680x1050" for DFP-0.
and the resolution works then.

# man nv
[...] With this driver, a digital flat panel will only work if it was POSTed by the BIOS, [...]

Unfortuntately your card's BIOS does *not* support higher modes than 1280x1024. Either do

a) use the nvidia driver
b) use the VGA connector
c) exchange the gfx card

Sorry, I need to close this one as WONTFIX. :-(
