Description Hans Witvliet 2006-03-21 09:22:11 UTC
If one needs to install/configure a number of identical systems it is very nice to use the autoinstall/autoyast-tool.

To my surprise the same mechanism is not available when doing a dirinstall (for xen) For instance, software selection is currently fixed to X+kde.
It would be nice when doing a dirinstall,
a) one was prompted for (on/off-box) for using an existing xml-file
b) a dialogue box for entering the appropiate file name

Probably minor impact for current dirinstall ycp code, but it lays an extra burden on the stability/features of autoinstallation-tool. ;-))

Asking the YaST maintainers for a comment.

Chuck, Is this something we can add to the YaST module this week?

The old package manager could save package selection into a file and later reload the selection back. You don't need complete autoyast support for that task.

AFAIK the new package manager doesn't support save/load of a selection yet, Stefan?
