You need to download the firmware, it's available from your extra directory, see my announcement of Beta8 for the non-oss software.

I am relatively new to Suse. I found the file in the 10.0 release but I can't find on the downloaded files for the beta version. Where can I get it?

I followed other links but they all have a three step process and I am not sure I should do it:

1. Download the latest ipw2200 driver from http://ipw2200.sourceforge.net/ and extract the files (tar zxvf <filename>).
Instructions are in the "INSTALL" file which is included with the distribution of the driver. Check the instructions. There may be changes with newer releases that are not included here.

2. Download the latest ieee80211 driver from http://ieee80211.sf.net/ and extract the files (tar zxvf <filename>).

3. Download the latest firmware from http://ipw2200.sf.net/firmware.php and extract the files (tar zxvf <filename>).
