It just hangs when trying to detect the harddisk controller.

I think the problem is the
"Unable to locate IOAPIC for GSI XX" messages.

noapic works.

booting without nolapic works, too, but then suspend fauls. see bug #155761

Although this is marked as fixed. I still think it should be followed up.
Please post acpidump output.

i verified that it boots with nolapic on kernel-default-2.6.16-20060412122502
