Description Herbert Weigel 2006-10-13 08:34:33 UTC
After installing Suse10.1 from DVD (with kernel 2.6.16.13-4) the
USB memory stick was nice found. After online update to kernel 2.6.16.21-0.25
this was no longer the case. Actually the new kernel did not detect
/dev/sda1. I had to return to the old kernel to have a properly working
USB memory stick.

Sorry, for your troubles with your usb memory stick. But after testing this here with kernel 2.6.16.21-0.25 i cannot reproduce this bug here on my machines.

Could you help me by giving me some additional information?
I'd be interested in the output of
hwinfo --usb-ctrl
and
hwinfo --usb
on your system (started as root) with kernel 2.6.16.21-0.25 and this usb stick connected.
And also the outputs of
udevmonitor --env
and the added lines to /var/log/messages
while you plugin your usb stick would give me very valuable information
how to solve this problem.

Frank

I hope the attached info is sufficient.

On more information:
After removing the module ehci_hcd the memory stick was
found again, cf bug no 186012
