Does this happen even when running Evolution outside of KDE? What are the settings in KControl->Appearance&Themes->GTK Styles and Fonts? No this does not happen with Evolution and Gnome - cannot test with3x effects. With KDE Appearance>Style>Effects> Enable GUI effects and select an effect for all 4 category - ensure Menu == translucent I have no idea what effect menu transluceny could have on evolution ;( I did not indicate that menu translucent was the cause. The original report only seeks to duplicate the original condition which duplicated the fault. I'm afraid I can't do anything about it and you seem to be the only one with this problem. So perhaps the evolution maintainers have an idea I have abandoned long term commitment to Evolution. One Possible reason why no one else has reported this issue is that up until approx 23/03/2007 it was impossible to have a functional Evolution and KDE environment. I am happy for the bug to be closed wontfix Just as an additional comment, I have the same identical situation with Evolution as you do. I'm not sure which update created the problem. Likewise, about the same time, doing Gnome updates, my sound system was partially trashed. My startup sound and shutdown sound are fine, but when my mail notification sound (.wav) plays, or any other sound added to my system, only about half the sound plays. This occurs with either Evolution or Thunderbird email, or the sound I have with Firefox Splash Extension. I'm fairly sure it's all related to Gnome updates (I use strictly KDE Desktop), since the same identical issue with the sound began after doing Gnome updates with Fedora 7, also using the KDE desktop. This is about the third time I've performed Gnome updates and had Evolution stuffed. In fact, I've given up on Evolution and don't use it anymore, but have switched to Thunderbird for email. The only resolution I've found the the various issues which seem to be related to Gnome updates is that I no longer do any Gnome updates on my KDE desktop system....just do KDE and other updates and the system keeps running properly. I avoid any and all Gnome updates. Not a very technical solution, I suppose, but at least everything keeps working properly. Cheers, zenarcher Sebastian, can you please remove me as reporter and change to stan as he may still hold log files that may help with Evolution.zenarcher@cableone.net Cheers Scott alpha096@tpg.com.au *** Bug 230434 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** I suspect this bug was reassigned in error. As mentioned in comment#7 and comment#8, both users had been moved and no longer do gnome updates and use evolution. I am in favor of closing the bug. Mark, what do you say ? I'm closing this bug. If someone comes a long and have this very issue, they are free to either create a new bug or reopen this one. |
