Description Kenneth Aar 2007-08-14 12:49:49 UTC
Would it be possible to add a webcam configure module in YAST under hardware? I would imagine it would work like this:

Choose webcam manufactuerer > choose model > Yast then installs the kernelmodule so the system can use the webcam.

Including the gspcav module(which supports over 250 usb webcams) by default in the kernel like some other distros do would be an easier and more energy efficient option.

See http://mxhaard.free.fr/download.html for details about the gspcav kernel module.

We already have gspcav and uvcvideo in the distribution - but it would be nice to have a mechanism to install them automatically.
