Description Danny Al-Gaaf 2007-08-23 19:36:21 UTC
I tried to install a Beta2 on a IBM/Lenovo T60 x86_64 machine with 512 MByte RAM, but it wasn't possible. After package selection (and also before) the system get slow and I can't move the mouse. Top show me the complete RAM was used, no free mem available. After some minutes the the installation get killed (assume by OOM-killer).

On the secon try on the same machine with enable a existing swap partition everything work as expected.

Hm, I though this has something to do with hw requirements ..
Anyway, please attach yast2 logs (if possible)
Comment 3 Jiri Srain 2007-09-04 13:33:36 UTC
Danny, was the problem with the amount of memory the y2base process consumed, or the size of the logs (/var/log/YaST2/*), which are stored in ramdisk?
Comment 4 Stanislav Visnovsky 2007-09-11 09:28:38 UTC
No feedback, please, reopen if happens again with Beta3 or later.

The logs size is greatly reduced for Beta3.
