Installation logs for beta 3, still cannot mount installation dvd.

Description Forgotten User 9WJQF5tTlz 2007-09-04 15:07:58 UTC
I am installing Beta2 in a Vaio laptop.

The installation media is a DVD disk. After boot and initial screens, I get an error message indicating the installer cannot load/mount the DVD. The probelm is not the disk, since I've used it to install beta2 in another computer.

The same problem was present in Beta1.

I am attaching the Yast2 logs.

P.S. In order to use the DVD drive, the boot option "brokenmodules=pata_ali" needs to be used with this computer. See bug #278533.

As a workaround, please try to mount the DVD manually and see if that helps. Also please attach the output of the lshal command.

Mount it manually where?

lshal returns an error message, it cannont open socket /var/run/dbus/system_bus_socket.

The output of df is empty.

Thank you!

I meant let's try if it can be mounted at all, anywhere. But as we now know the problem is in dbus, this is probably not relevant. However, it may serve you as a workaround if the error dialog provides a Retry button - just mount the drive (anywhere) and click Retry - libzypp should find and reuse the mount point.
