Description Gottfried von Bouillon 2007-09-22 13:10:30 UTC
After Installation of openSUSE 10.3 RC1, there is no way to start KDE. The start crashed with the following error info:

Could not start kdeinit. Check your installation.

And next error info is:

/opt/kde3/bin/kdeinit: error while loading shared libaries: libkdeui.so.4: cannot open shared object: no such file or directory

i don't understand the reason fpr this error, because there is a symbolic link ( libkdeui.so.4 ) to libkdeui.so.4.2.0

What could be the problem are?
Comment 1 Stephan Kulow 2007-09-22 13:14:24 UTC
the installation didn' report any errors?
Comment 2 Gottfried von Bouillon 2007-09-22 13:25:22 UTC
During the installation there wasn't any errors. The first time the error appeared was after the last reboot ( Installation ). Perhaps there is a problem with x server too. i don't know.

But on this computer i had openSUSE 10.2 installed ( the same hardware (Graphic card Asus N6200/TD ) with no errors or problems.

Neither root or user can start kde. I had configured the grapphic card with sax2. No errors appeared.
Comment 3 Stephan Kulow 2007-09-22 13:42:34 UTC
there is only one reboot. So if you name it the last reboot I have the feeling you're talking about bug 326942 - do you used xfs?
Comment 4 Gottfried von Bouillon 2007-09-22 13:50:21 UTC
Yes my root partition is xfs
Comment 5 Gottfried von Bouillon 2007-09-22 13:54:09 UTC
I will try a new installation ( use ext3 ). We will see ;-)
Comment 6 Stephan Kulow 2007-09-22 13:56:37 UTC
ok. then it's known problem.

But i´ll try to install with ext3 and i´ll give you feedback.
I´ve attached kdm.log just to be sure
