opensuse 10.3 updater applet/program should show not only version number of new pkg, but also of installed pkg. This makes it easier to determine if update is necassary and/or wanted.
Now you have to do a 'rpm -qa| grep bla' to see what version exactly you have on your system, and repeat that for every to be updated pkg.

Do you use KDE or Gnome version?
