Description Tobias Burnus 2003-02-04 22:46:20 UTC
In Sax2 you can choose "Diskette..." in various places (e.g. Insert vendor
monitor driver floppy"). Which then tries to access the floppy.

I would expect that I can also specify another location that is a directory,
where I downloaded the driver or where I mounted the CompactDisc.
Comment 1 Marcus Schaefer 2003-02-20 23:52:21 UTC
- There is only one place where the user can choose "Diskette..."
This is the place where the monitor disk can be inserted.

- At the time I don't know a monitor vendor which provides
a CD or another medium to hold the .inf file

If you can ensure there is a monitor manufacturer which provides
a different medium than a disk for the monitor then I will include
the possibility to read from this medium, otherwise I see no need why
this should be implemented

Well, given that floppies frequently get broken, we have those files on a
central directory where we can access them from all computers using NFS. This is
not exactly a vendor CD though...

ping ;-)

What's the status of this ancient feature request?
Comment 4 Stefan Dirsch 2008-07-16 19:50:09 UTC
There are no plans to implement this feature - unless someone attaches a patch
for SaX2.
