Could you try to downgrade to 10.3 kernel on 11.0 and check whether the problem exists? We need to sort out which component is responsible. Also, run /usr/share/package/alsa/alsa-info.sh scripts as root with --no-upload option, and attach the generated file here. This contains useful information for the sound, especially for HD-audio. alsa-info.sh --no-upload
Where do I get the kernel for 10.3? OK, it's an AC97 codec, and very unlikely a sound-driver issue. Rather other things like ACPI or the desktop system changes. On which desktop system did OSD work? The 10.3 packages can be found on download.opensuse.org. Check the search page there. >On which desktop system did OSD work?
On 10.3 the OSD would appear in the corner of the screen, however it would be scrambled. The volume did change though.
On 11.0 the situation is reversed, the volume doesn't change but the OSD appears just fine.
I will try to install the 10.3 kernel today.
I found a fix for the bug. It seems the function keys are working and sending the correct codes when pressed, however the mixer (in my case kmix), doesn't have the scancodes associated with any shortcuts. If I go and bind the appropriate key with the Mute/VolUp/VolDwn shortcuts for kmix, everything is as it should be. So everything is working under the hood, but the user still has to set this up manually. OK, reassigned to KDE maintainers. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 382343 *** |
