Description Forgotten User Drfk9mafMw 2008-05-10 13:30:28 UTC
When using an existing home partition with existing users which had a regular kde3 session as the default, KDM complains about this. Unfortunately, the keyboard is no longer properly usable then: e.g. the password can't be typed etc.

The solution for me was to set auto-login for the users. After that, KDM works fine.

BTW: switching to a virtual terminal works fine, and also logging in there.

I've submitted a new kde4-kdm to KDE:KDE4:STABLE:Desktop. can you update from there and confirm that the bug is gone?

Thank you, Dirk! As far as I can tell, KDM works now as expected! The installation of the package pulled loads of other packages as dependencies, too, but in summa the bug is gone.

Closing as FIXED.

OK, but in the Beta 3 it is not fixed. Normaly (I work as standard with openSUSE 10.2) I work with KDE 3 on a NIS-User and NFS-Home. In openSUSE 11.0 Beta 3, I use KDE 4, but after installation (with NIS and NFS since installation), on the Login Screen a error message tells about false default Login, after closing him with the mouse, I can't type any character.
