What VNC server? What has it to do with KDE? Can you please be a bit more verbose?

Sorry,

i have activated 'Remote Administration (VNC)' via Yast2 (Textmode). Then i run vncviewer on win box to connect, connected succesfully, but emtpy workspace.
i looked in log's an saw '... could not open display :1

next step, i put ip and hostname in /etc/hosts then i've got my workspace *great*

next step, i've click in field 'username' then connection crashes down :(( at the moment i've no idea what it can be, VNC Server or KDE thats why i'm writing here

And what happens if you choose another session type at login than KDE?

Sorry, but seams to be another bug or not really fixed for KDE4. I've installed completely new from factory repo, setup ip an name in /etc/hosts, activate remote admin via yast2, open ports in firewall.

connect successfull, quality of screen is terrible, if i use mouse over any edit field or link i get an abnormal program termination (xvnc)

currently i install kde3 and gnome to try out, results i post later here

I've tried some different displaymanger, here's one screenshot, the quality is the same for all displaymanagers also the bug

So, now i had tried kde3, kde4, gnome and different displaymanagers, but the sam problem, remote administration won't work at the moment.
For every test i've setup a new installation, standard only choice was kde or gnome during setup

Comment 10 JP Rosevear 2008-05-21 12:36:13 UTC
The original crash report you made is fixed, I assume since you can connect Xvnc is indeed no longer crashing. Please copy this bug report to a new one and attach new vnc logs and attempts from more than one vnc client along with xorg.conf.
