nv driver does not provide *any* 3D support, so still using compiz doesn't make much sense to me. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 386863 *** a) compiz shouldn't even start in such configuration, that is IMO a bug, and b) that's not the point anyway. i'm complaining about general performance problem -without- compiz. compiz is only mentioned as a sidenote, to perhaps help find the real problem. I think that Xgl is still enabled and slows down your system considerably. This should be fixed after the next NVIDIA driver RPM update for openSUSE 10.3. See Bug #386863, comment #7. Additionally compiz is started even before the Xsession. See Bug #386863, comment #8. I suggest to give Beta3 a try (released today/tomorrow) to verify that the issue has been fixed and not to reopen before. Thanks. |
