When Password dialog has "Keep password" option checked during starting update, the applet only checks the repositories for updates. When "Keep password" is unchecked the update goes through normally.

This is a bug in kdesu. After installing updates opensuseupdater checks for updates. Due to the kdesu bug installaion updates isn't called.
