Description Ciaran Farrell 2008-05-20 14:06:03 UTC
When using the kde4 desktop on beta3, a problem occurs when openoffice is used. When openoffice is started and has a taskbar icon/entry, there is no problem so long as the mouse is in the openoffice window or hovering over the openoffice icon/entry in the taskbar.

However, whenever the mouse hovers over any other part of either the taskbar or part of the screen not occupied by the openoffice window, the taskbar goes black (sometimes it flickers on and off). Moving the mouse over the parts of the taskbar that have flickered/gone black redraws them and they are ok again (until the problem is repeated - i.e. by letting openoffice have focus and then hovering the mouse over a "non-openoffice" screen area).

This problem seems to occur only with gtk linked apps. I now have thunderbird producing exactly the same behaviour as described above.

I'm unable to duplicate this.
Comment 3 Ciaran Farrell 2008-05-27 07:12:13 UTC
I can reproduce it any time I start Openoffice - sometimes with Thunderbird/Firefox, but 100% of the time with Openoffice. Are there any log files which I can attach - I'm not sure what I should be looking at here - plasma, gtk, openoffice?

I just installed RC1 and now it seems to work. Have no idea why, but I guess it WORKSFORME now.
Comment 5 Juhani Matilainen 2008-05-31 15:20:25 UTC
I tested RC1, but same problem exists. I think this is display driver related, because it occurred only after installing proprietary driver. This is nvidia Quatro FX 1500, but also GeForce 7300 doesn't work.

I think you are right - I was also using a proprietary nvidia driver but did not install this with the update from beta3 to RC1. I'll install the nvidia driver and see can I reproduce it...
Comment 8 Ciaran Farrell 2008-06-19 08:29:21 UTC
I can reproduce it on 11.0 GM - it appears to be in combination with the proprietary nvidia driver.

I have the same problem as well. I can reproduce it anytime unless this bug is fixed :)
