Description Marius Tomaschewski 2008-05-26 11:54:07 UTC
+++ This bug was initially created as a clone of Bug #393801 +++

After a clean network install & update from factory ( post Beta3 ) connection with NetworkManager (default installation setting) works as expected.

Changing that to ifup with yast2 lan results in a configuration that needs several times ifdown / ifup / dhclient to finally connect.

Please advise what kind of information you require.

* Bug 393801, comment #4 from Casual J. Programmer:
setting up static IP is not possible, yast2 lan hangs at "write
routing configuration" and needs to be killed, see yast2logs attached.

After starting yast2 lan again it shows the static IP for WLAN, on closing
hangs again. Probably a new Bug ?

Michal, can you look why yast2 network hangs?
Comment 4 Casual J. Programmer 2008-05-26 12:17:59 UTC
After updating once again from factory the issue seems fixed. at least ifdown / ifup now work as expected and connection to the internet is made on boot.

Marked as WORKSFORME

After clean install from RC1 DVD & update from factory the issue is back. Only if bot entries for interfaces ( wlan and lan ) are deleted from yast2 lan and then _only_ wlan is recreated will anything go, then only if dhcpcd is started manually after rcnetwork start or ifup wlan0

Is this problem of yast or sysconfig? In other words - is the ifcfg-wlan0 configuration same when it works and when it doesn't work?

I think there are just a few ifup reports too many for me to keep track. Lets close this one as duplicate of Bug 393801 and continue there. I updated it already with the most recent information.

Sorry for the confusion :-(

P.S. setting up the routing in yast2 lan still takes forever, not sure whether that should be a bug in it's own right.
