Description Alexander Alexandrov 2008-07-09 12:44:04 UTC
It doesn't automount DVD/CD drives on KDE 4.
Comment 1 Dirk Mueller 2008-07-09 22:14:36 UTC
lshal --monitor outputs something if you put a CD in the tray? if so, what does it output?

Comment 2 chef D 2008-07-14 18:50:18 UTC
When I put in the opensuse dvd 11 I used to install opensuse 11 on one pc and update 10.3 to 11 on a second pc(successfully I might add) the opensuse 11 dvd will not automount.

as root in the command line I ran the lshal --monitor as Dirk requested here is the output:

lshal --monitor

Start monitoring devicelist:
-------------------------------------------------
14:44:58.014: storage_model_DVD_RW_AD_7170A property storage.removable.media_available = true
14:44:58.073: storage_model_DVD_RW_AD_7170A property storage.cdrom.write_speeds = {'8467', '7056', '5645', '4234', '2822', '1411'}
14:45:01.677: volume_label_SU1100_001 added

There are no means in KDE4 until now to set any mount options, i.e. automouting etc.

Comment 4 Mark Van De Vyver 2009-04-10 23:52:02 UTC
I am not sure why this is marked as a duplicate of Bug #383176. The relation was not clear to me.

Rather I think the Alexander might like to try the solution proposed in comment #2 of Bug #447932

That may bring back the desired behavior, I'm not sure what it will do for remembering the path of mounted devices which seems to be issue in Bug #383176
But of course one needs to mount and eject devices successfully before remounting them, so if this fix works maybe solving Bug #383176 can now proceed?

If the suggested fix does work perhaps the OP can mark this as a duplicate of Bug #447932 ? or vice versa.
