Description Ulrich Derenthal 2009-01-12 22:21:35 UTC
After upgrading from 11.0 to 11.1, it seems to me that the DNS lookup in Firefox is delayed.

When I enter the address of any website, there seems to be often (always?) a delay of a few seconds, when the status bar says "Nachschlagen von www.spiegel.de..." ("looking up www.spiegel.de..."). After this delay, the website loads quickly, and clicking on a link to a page on the same site leads to opening it in fractions of seconds. Clicking on links to other sites (with other www....-address) leads to the same initial delay.

I don't really know whether this is only related to Firefox. The command line nslookup seems to work without delay. I can't see a similar problem in Konqueror. However, installing packages over the internet using Yast is sometimes delayed. It complains about sites not being found, and then clicking retry resolves the problem, which then may reappear a few packages later.

I also don't know how to pin this problem in more detail.

looks like bug 442572. Not Firefox.
