Description Elmar Stellnberger 2009-09-09 11:29:46 UTC
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; de; rv:1.9.1.2) Gecko/20090730 SUSE/3.5.2-2.4 Firefox/3.5.2

While the proprietary fglrx driver provides good 3D but no working xinerama support it has always been the other way round with the radeonhd driver: good xinerama support but lacking 3D support.
As the radeonhd driver is trying to catch up with 3D support its Xinerama support has unfortunately deteriorated (see: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/post_bug.cgi and related bugs). Nonetheless the 3D support of radeonhd is not very mature yet (It is f.i. far too slow for Neverball on a dual core system and Google Earth remains restricted in functionality).
Now the radeonhd driver is mainly used by office-users. These people love xinerama support and expect a high degree of stability (in contrast to the buggy fglrx that often crashes). That is why I wanna ask the referenced issues (Radeonhd-Bugs 20888, 20628, 18592, 22452 and 23810) to be resolved before the release of Opensuse 11.2.

Reproducible: Always

The situation has worsened drastically for xorg-x11-driver-video-radeonhd-1.2.5_20090901_f7ad938-1.1.x86_64 and Milestone 7. Testing for all these Xinerama bugs is no more possible since Xinerama does not work at all any more (https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=23927).
