User-Agent:       Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.1.3) Gecko/20090909 SUSE/3.5.3-1.3 Firefox/3.5.3

Sorry for the title; couldn't think of a better description. When I try to suspend to RAM or hibernate my laptop, either via the KDE/GNOME shutdown dialogs or via "pm-suspend"/"pm-hibernate", the screen blanks out for a second, then comes back on again, exactly like it was before I tried to suspend. No errors, nothing.

What's confusing to me is that I installed M7 when it first came out, and the suspend/hibernate worked like a charm - but at some point (maybe a kernel upgrade?) it started exhibiting the above described behavior. I assumed that the next milestone would take care of it, but it certainly hasn't.

I'm not very experienced in suspend/hibernate issues, so if someone could let me know what information would be helpful, I'd appreciate it!

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Try to suspend/hibernate the machine (via menu commands or pm-* commands)
Actual Results:
Screen blanks out for a few seconds, then comes back. No change.

Expected Results:
Suspend or Hibernate.

I've the same problem with 11.2rc1 on my Lenovo Ideapad S10.
Suspend works only when i trigger it manually.
e.g: s2disk -r /dev/sda2

It does not work without specifying the resume device.
("resume" is correctly set in /boot/grub/menu.lst)

After a fresh 11.2rc1 installation it works now on my machine. "zypper dup" from 11.1 to 11.2rc1 broke my hal. A lot other hal related stuff did not work.

So the problem is broken HAL after update from 11.1 to 11.2rc1? As I looked on pm-utils in 11.1 and 11.2 I did not see any big changes, which should cause a broken update.

@Zachary: I don't think it's related to pm-utils, as they did not changed a much between M7/RC1. Does the s2ram [1] work?

I have a clean install 11.2 (production) installed on a Lenovo W500. When I try suspend it hangs and the /var/log/pm-suspend.log reports it hangs here:

===== 2009-11-16 19:35:59.281649196 running hook: /usr/lib/pm-utils/slee
p.d/10NetworkManager =====
Error org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply: Did not receive a reply. Possi
ble causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the mes
sage bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, o
r the network connection was broken.

I don't know how to further debug this... Would like this to work.

Do you have NM enabled? But there should be simple workaround, remove the last line exit $? from /usr/lib/pm-utils/sleep.d/10NetworkManager, it might work.
