Description Stephan Kleine 2009-10-07 15:41:29 UTC
I still have to manually activate the keyboard layout in KDE's config, set the proper variant and locale although I already set that stuff during installation.

Preferred solution: simply use whatever I set during installation as default.

How is the X11 keyboard layout set now when we (AFAICS) do not use xorg.conf anymore?
Comment 2 Stefan Dirsch 2009-10-07 15:51:31 UTC
system wide: /etc/sysconfig/keyboard:KEYTABLE
             --> /etc/X11/xdm/keytable4hal
             --> /etc/hal/fdi/policy/20thirdparty/11-keymap.fdi

Per user: by the appropriate desktop tool in KDE3/KDE4/Gnome

I've just done a clean M8 install with German selected and I have German keyboard layout everywhere. So you either need to provide a way to reproduce or this is WORKSFORME.
