Whenever I try to either shut down or restart my gnome session I ended up with the login screen instead! If I press on either the shut down or restart button, the system freezes. So I have to manually shut down my machine using the power button, which is not recommended.

1.press shutdown or restart from gnome menu

login screen appears instead of either shutting down or restarting the session

system freezes
