I reported an Okular crash over at the KDE bug tracking system (https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=221829), but the bug was resolved as upstream issue. For openSUSE, libpoppler4 is only available as version 0.10.x, but version 0.12.x is required for the latest Okular PDF backend builds.

The old libpoppler4 should be made available in newer versions!

Andreas,

We wouldn't fixed in the 11.1 cause we don't mind to big version change in our update policy, so could you try the libpoppler5 in openSUSE 11.2?
Comment 2 Tarmo Johannes 2010-01-11 21:01:23 UTC
This is true. Okular 0.9.4 (kde 4.3.4) does not work poppler update 0.10.1-1.7.1 I downgraded poppler back to 0.10.1-1.4 and it solved the problem but for newer kde versions new poppler is needed anyway.

I personally would like to go on with opensuse 11.1 for quite some time and not updgrade and reinstall everything so please reconsider.

Have a loot also at http://mail.kde.org/pipermail/okular-devel/2009-October/005158.html

OpenSuse 11.1 64 bit
kernel 2.6.27.39-0.2-default
kde 4.3.4

I also need to stick with openSUSE 11.1 (11.2's kernel causes a panic on bootup because the USB stack has a serious bug, I cannot upgrade to 11.2 until this is fixed).

So please reconsider!

Andreas,

First I need to consider what's the reason for crash. Do you find this bug when upgrade libpoppler4 from security updates?

 rpm -q --changelog libpoppler4 | head -n 30

 And attach the log.

Tarmo,

I think your issue is another one, when you update the libpoppler, it need to update the kdegraphics4 which depend libpoppler-devel.
Comment 5 Andreas Demmer 2010-01-15 08:49:07 UTC
The bug appeared with the last patch update of libpoppler4.

Here is the log: http://pastebin.ca/1752160

Andreas,

Well, so it maybe need to update the latest kdegraphics4 which depends the new libpoppler-devel from security updates. Like bug#570183, the security updates crash the xpdf.

Now I'm building the kdegraphics4 in my build service. Later you can got the new okular in my build service.

 Thanks!

HI,

Build success in 11.1, these are the packages:

https://api.opensuse.org/build/home:BinLi:branches:openSUSE:11.1/standard/i586/kdegraphics4/kde4-okular-4.1.3-8.1.i586.rpm
https://api.opensuse.org/build/home:BinLi:branches:openSUSE:11.1/standard/x86_64/kdegraphics4/kde4-okular-4.1.3-8.2.x86_64.rpm

And where do you update KDE SC 4.4? From the openSUSE:Factory(KDE:KDE4:Factory:Desktop)?
Comment 8 Andreas Demmer 2010-01-15 10:54:58 UTC
I installed my KDE SC 4.4 from http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/KDE4:/Factory:/Desktop/openSUSE_11.1/

I downloaded and installed your new Okular build, unfortunally Okular is segfaulting now with all PDFs.
Comment 9 Andreas Demmer 2010-01-15 12:01:36 UTC
Ah. sorry, I did not spend attention and installed your version ment for KDE 4.3.1 into my KDE RC 4.4 RC1, no wonder it's segfaulting.

Could you please provide a 4.3.90 build, too? Thx!

should be in Factory
