If I shutdown I am told that unmounting the samba share which is part of my fstab timed out and the shutdown process pauses for ~30 seconds or something like that.

I noticed that NetworkManager is shutdown before cifs/smb shares are unmounted. could the latter be the reason, i.e. the network connection is shutdown before the network shares are unmounted?

If I do a umount /path/to/share manually it works instantly.
