Attach YaST logs, please.
It's actually helpful to attach them to (almost) every bugreport
for YaST.

Is there a workaround? I need to install a wireless card and to be honest I've used the yast method for so long i'm drawing a blank on setting it up manually for the rtl8180 card.

yes, in file /usr/share/YaST2/clients/lan.ycp uncomment "guihandler" option
