Starting firefox in konsole gets:

kmozillahelper(6159)/kdecore (KSycoca): Trying to open ksycoca from "/var/tmp/kdecache-Stephen/ksycoca4"

GLib-ERROR **: gmem.c:137: failed to allocate 187363653324901 bytes

An archlinux bug (http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/19358) suggests the problem is in gtk2.20.1-1.2
Comment 2 Forgotten User kHYb7eJGnH 2010-05-23 02:43:06 UTC
Updating gtk2 to the new version in the GNOME factory repo solved the problem for me.
Comment 3 Rastislav Krupansky 2010-05-23 11:46:00 UTC
I can confirm Firefox crashes/unable to start from main menu, or desktop also on 32bit.
Tested on LiveCD Gnome, M7.
Here you are command line output:

linux@linux~>firefox %u
/usr/bin/firefox: line 128: 3777 Segmentation fault $MOZ_PROGRAM "$@"
linux@linux~>firefox
/usr/bin/firefox: line 128: 3800 Segmentation fault $MOZ_PROGRAM "$@"

So moving to Gnome for reference (as it seems it's already in the update pipeline).

This is already being forwarded to oS:F, so closing.

Hello,
I run openSUSE11.3-KDE-Milestone 7 (build0625-i686)-LiveCD but I can start Firefox normally from Icon in panel or folder view or via Kickoff Application Launcher.

Regards, Frans

Hello

FYI the problem is now solved on my PC

I did a zypper dup last night on my 64 bit system late last night and went to bed.

Went I booted this morning (Date now is Fri May 28 06:41:36 CEST 2010) Firefox and mozillathunderbird work fine. :)

Note I am using factory:
http://download.opensuse.org/factory/repo/non-
http://download.opensuse.org/factory/repo/oss/

My openSUSE 11.3 Milestone 7 (x86_64) was (is) a net install done Wed May 26 using openSUSE-NET-x86_64-Build0631-Media.iso . Post install I did a zypper dup. Everything went well (Konqueror and Google chrome work fined) except when I tried using MozillaThunderbird and Firefox - disaster - see error messsage below
