Description Klaus Kämpf 2013-09-25 08:09:30 UTC
Since years ago, I use 'zypper dup' for major version upgrades. This time, upgrading from 12.3 to 13.1Beta1 failed and leaves my system unusable.

I haven't rebooted yet. I can still type commands in (gnome-)shell, but they don't respond. I can switch consoles but login times out after 60 seconds.
So I can't even login as root and initiate a proper shutdown :-(
Comment 1 Klaus Kämpf 2013-09-25 08:10:14 UTC
Interrupting (ctrl-c) or stopping (ctrl-z) programs does not work.
Comment 2 Klaus Kämpf 2013-09-25 08:10:57 UTC
The power switch finally initiated a shutdown.
Comment 3 Bernhard Wiedemann 2013-09-27 15:42:04 UTC
I had similar problems when upgrading my Thinkpad E335 on text console
(even X11 died, no more logins possible)
but it went away after a reboot.

could be related to dbus breaking
