Description Daniel Ottey 2005-05-20 12:42:59 UTC
We have learned "the hard way" that there is a minimum password length of 6
characters for the password used during an installation via VNC. But we have
two complaints about your handling of this restriction:

1. The "enter your password" field should specify this 6 character minimim.
2. As most "enter your password" fields are created in other programs, if you
are creating a password it should prompt you twice to verify what was typed in.
3. It should immediatelly verify the legitimacy of the password. Do the two
match? And, is it long enough?
4. It this check fails, it should give you a chance to enter a new password.

As it is, the vncserver starts successfully, but displays an error saying that
the password was too short. We can connect to the vncserver with a vncclient,
but it will not accept out password. And so we are forced to reboot the server.
This is a hassle and could be avoided by a properly-implemented password mechanism.

Steffen, is this fixed meanwhile or do you intend to fix it for CODE10?
Comment 6 Steffen Winterfeldt 2006-05-02 13:15:56 UTC
Presently it complains about short passwords and lets you enter a new one.
