Description kolA flash 2014-03-28 18:47:31 UTC
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:28.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/28.0

This bug appeared after updating Firefox from
MozillaFirefox-27.0.1-12.1.x86_64.rpm 07-Mar-2014 10:18
to
MozillaFirefox-28.0-17.1.x86_64.rpm 26-Mar-2014 16:52

When using KDE, normally Firefox runs Dolphin when clicking:

Tools => Downloads => rightclick a download => "Open Containing Folder"

Bug disappears if I return to Firefox 27.0.1.

I got Nautilus installed because sometimes I like to run Gnome. If I uninstall Nautilus or delete "/usr/bin/nautilus", the bug also disappears.

You can find a lot of stuff in the web if you look for a way to change Firefox default filemanager.
E.g. looking into these files:

/usr/share/applications/defaults.list
/usr/share/applications/mimeinfo.cache
/usr/share/applications/mimeapps.list
~/.local/share/applications/defaults.list
~/.local/share/applications/mimeapps.list
~/.local/share/applications/mimeinfo.cache

And changing lines like:

inode/directory=nautilus.desktop
x-directory/gnome-default-handler=nautilus-folder-handler.desktop
x-directory/normal=nautilus.desktop

to

inode/directory=kde4-dolphin.desktop
x-directory/gnome-default-handler=kde4-dolphin.desktop
x-directory/normal=kde4-dolphin.desktop

All this DOESN'T helps. :-/

Remember: This is some kind of regression. In Firefox 27 everything was fine.

Reproducible: Always

"disappears" means Dolphin is being run, like expected.

On openSUSE 13.2 this problem persists, but with a different technical background.

This version of openSUSE changed to end-of-life (EOL [1]) status. As such
it is no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any
further security or bug fix updates.
As a result we are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of
openSUSE, or consider the bug still valid, please feel free to reopen this
bug against that version, or open a new ticket.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed
during the lifetime of the release.
