From which version did you update? From 9.3 or some older version? STABLE from about a month ago this only happens when dynamic dev is on Could you test this issue in Beta1? It should be already fixed. If not then reopen please. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 100703 *** not fixed in beta1, it only happens when dynamic dev is used though. I don't see it related to the i810_audio module problem that is mentioned in the other bugreport either, because that module isn't loaded here. The module is not laoded? See comment #2, there is "i810_audio is active" which means that the driver _is_ loaded - well, both drivers (OSS and ALSA) are loaded in that case which is wrong because only one (which is loaded first) will handle the card. If you manually modprobe the alsa driver it doesn't log any error, it doesn't tell that no sound card is found. Please attach lsmod output and file /proc/asound/cards (list of sound cards handled by alsa, if the card is used by OSS there will be no soundcard) to see more details. ok, that was with the old previews, the same happens however with beta1, except that i810 is not loaded. I am experiencing a similar problem. My sound card is a Sound Blaster Live! 24-bit. YaST reports that it can't load the kernel module. However a manual "alsaconf", followed by "alsamixer", "gamix" and "alsactl store" solves the problem. About comment #12 : similar here, Asus p4p800 with 10.0 (fresh install from released box) worked fine with onboard sound. then install of Audigy card, and yast insists it can't load the snd_emu10k1 module (despite all snd-modules unloaded manually before). Manual "alsaconf", followed by "alsamixer" and "alsactl store" worked. Still yast says it can't load the modul, but it does - if it is not loaded before yast it is always loaded after. Had to put "modprobe snd_emu10k1" in boot.local to get sound automatically at login. I have reproduced the problem on my test machine - small sleep between loading a kernel module and checking the sound card status helps. It seems that is takes some time to initialize the card... Should be fixed in yast2-sound-2.13.1 |
