Description Uwe Girlich 2005-08-09 14:54:43 UTC
I did a basic install of 10.0b1 until the last point at the left side, which
reads "Hardware-Konfiguration".
I selected "folgende Konfiguration verwenden", got "Systemanalyse..." but no
results at all. I wanted to change the graphics adapter and clicked on "Aendern",
selected "Grafikkarten" and got "Use the hyperlinks for your changes" dialog box
but as I wrote, there are no hyperlinks. There's still "Systemanalyse..." and
nothing more.
It is impossible to change the hardware configuration.

Uwe, please, we need all your y2logs to find out what was wrong.

See: http://www.suse.de/~sh/Bugreporting-faq/index.html#id2518603
and attach all y2logs.

Thank you.
Comment 2 Uwe Girlich 2005-08-10 06:05:30 UTC
As long as the hardware cannot be configured correctly, I cannot even type
any command to get any further log files (software thinks german keyboard, I have
an english one). There is a connection to bug #99358. The keyboard layout can only
be configured with sax2, which does not run in vmware 5.
Comment 3 Uwe Girlich 2005-08-10 06:09:59 UTC
I just found out, that the KDE control center has an option to configure the
keyboard as well. I activated the english layout and finally can type now all
needed commands.

/var/log/YaST2 archived after installation

During Installation I forgot to use Shift-F8. Thus I
archived the /var/log/YaST2 directory manually after
I had the possibility.
Comment 5 Uwe Girlich 2005-08-10 06:17:07 UTC
As "Create a New Attachment" does not allow to set the status back to "ASSIGNED",
I have to write this senseless comment.
Comment 6 Stanislav Visnovsky 2005-08-10 06:23:10 UTC
Marcus, looks like a sax problem.
Comment 7 Marcus Schaefer 2005-08-10 10:06:35 UTC
the library cache is empty, don't know why. I need a bit more information:
From the installed system in runlevel 3 please call:

  sax2 -p

--> output ?

now sax2 -r

--> what happens ?

Thanks

output of "sax -p" and "sax -r"

This is the output of sax -p and -r.
I already attached this output to bug #99358.

/var/log/SaX.log of a "sax2 -r" run as root

SaX2 switched the video mode multiple times.
SaX2 opened the "Importing Data" window.
SaX2 stops without any further info.
I already attached this to bug #99358.

you are using a vmware guest system... This is an important information
which you did not provide until now. This kind of environment seems to be
broken currently.
