Bugzilla – Bug 103765
English typo in yast2-network
Last modified: 2006-02-23 16:57:50 UTC
s/routeing/routing/ When the network component of yast starts up or writes changes, it gives a progress report. One of the items is "Reading/writing routeing...". This should be "routing". (General rule when generating the gerund from a verb stem is to drop the final 'e' eg. to route -> routing, to write -> writing)
I cannot find it. Can you attach a screenshot? What translations do you have installed? ( rpm -qa | grep yast2-trans )
Created attachment 45496 [details] screenshot The equivalent screen show on exit has the same misspelling.
yast2-trans-en_GB-2.11.4-4 yast2-transfer-2.12.0-2 yast2-trans-stats-2.11.0-7
yast2-trans-en_GB consistently rewrites "routing" to "routeing". I think Karl should be able to explain.
Bah. Several places say "routeing" is the correct British English, so who am I to complain? http://foldoc.doc.ic.ac.uk/foldoc/foldoc.cgi?routeing
At the moment, I do the British "translations" automatically using a word list provided by the GNOME project. I can add or remove words as wanted. I don't understand what you want me to do in the case of "routing".
Will, do you want me to change it? How should we write it in British English?
Craig, what do you think about "routing" and "routeing" in British English? Maybe, it is better to switch back to "routing"?

/me votes for 'routing' - 'routeing' is IMO too obscure. But who'd ask a germanist for the correct english?
ok. fix submitted to /work
