Bugzilla – Bug 103768
wmSMPmon crashes immediately when started (with SOLUTION)
Last modified: 2005-08-18 08:43:37 UTC
The version of wmSMPmon that is included with SuSE Linux 10.0 beta1 as part of the package "WindowMaker-applets-1.0-659.i586.rpm" is an old version (2.1). This version does not support kernel 2.6 and as a result crashes immediately when run. A new version of this applet has been released a couple of days ago: wmSMPmon 3.0. At the same time, the app has got a new maintainer (me...) and a new home page: http://lancre.ribbrock.org/wmSMPmon/ (see also: http://freshmeat.net/projects/wmsmpmon/ ) The new version has been adapted to support kernel 2.6 as well and should therefore run fine. If possible at this point in time, it might be an idea to replace the outdated version in "WindowMaker-applets" with the current one. Cheerio, Thomas
Thank you for the report. Andreas, I think it can be safely updated. There are no dependent packages.
Vladimir: I agree, go ahead.

wmSMPmon is updated
(In reply to comment #4) > wmSMPmon is updated Great, thanks! <nitpick mode>"rpm -qi WindowMaker-applets" does not list the new maintainer of wmSMPmon, though...</nitpick mode> :-)
The author list is now updated too.
