Bugzilla – Bug 104015
Dell laptop display not detected
Last modified: 2006-03-23 11:32:31 UTC
My Dell 1400x1050 laptop display wasn't detected during installation. I can't remember which, but at least one of Kubuntu or Fedora managed it, so it'd be nice, but not essential, if SUSE did too.
what do you expect me to do with your explanation ?? there is no information I can use to make you happy... something is not working but I remember another OS which managed it please do it the same way *????* please provide the output of the following command: hwinfo --monitor Thanks
Sorry - was late when I finally got to reporting the bug. In SuSE 9.2 'hwinfo --monitor' gives this (I'm unable to run the beta today): 25: None 00.0: 10002 LCD Monitor [Created at monitor.100] Unique ID: rdCR.+sOs0apa6W9 Hardware Class: monitor Model: "Dell Notebook LCD" Vendor: "Dell Computer Corporation" Device: "Notebook LCD" Resolution: 1600x1200@60Hz Driver Info #0: Max. Resolution: 1600x1200 Vert. Sync Range: 50-75 Hz Hor. Sync Range: 31-108 kHz Config Status: cfg=yes, avail=yes, need=yes, active=unknown (And yes, it is a 1400x1050 display).
Still the same in beta2. The display which is picked for me in installation is "--> LCD 1600x1200@75HZ", but the one that is needed is "DELL 1400X LAPTOP DISPLAY PANEL" The output above from SuSE 9.2 is the same as the output from openSUSE 10 beta 2.
I have a similar problem, my SONY Multiscan E400 is not automatically detected. SuSE 9.2# hwinfo --monitor 25: None 00.0: 10000 Monitor [Created at fb.70] Unique ID: rdCR.EY_qmtb9YY0 Hardware Class: monitor Model: "Generic Monitor" Vendor: "Generic" Device: "Monitor" Resolution: 1024x768@76Hz Driver Info #0: Max. I guess it is probed from the graphic card: # hwinfo --gfxcard 23: PCI(AGP) 100.0: 0300 VGA compatible controller (VGA) [Created at pci.273] Unique ID: VCu0.FqL1_ab_zQ8 Parent ID: vSkL.NVv9AfhhZO6 SysFS ID: /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:01.0/0000:01:00.0 SysFS BusID: 0000:01:00.0 Hardware Class: graphics card Model: "Asustek 0x0322" Vendor: pci 0x10de "nVidia Corporation" Device: pci 0x0322 "0x0322" SubVendor: pci 0x1043 "Asustek Computer, Inc." Is this fixed yet? (Bugzilla said it was going to close this bug).
Can you post the contents of your xorg.conf file? Sounds like an X problem
I just installed 10.1 beta 8, and the display was detected fine.
