methane scaling mode broken

Pressing F2 in the game to toggle scaling mode produces garbage.
methane writes on stdout: Instructions: Use the cursor keys to move around the screen. Tap the CTRL key to fire gas from the gun. Hold the CTRL key to suck a trapped baddie into the gun. Release the CTRL key to throw the trapped baddie from the gun Throw baddies at the wall to destroy them. The default, 24 bit. Ok. I'll try to add the information to the menu. Could you please verify that scaling works in 16bpp?
