"Ingore Mouse" mouse selection?
Last modified: 2005-08-15 07:33:41 UTC
During the initial installation on my Thinkpad T42, YaST2 selected "Ignore mouse - regardless if one exists" as the mouse model. What exactly does this selection do? I could not find any explanation and this entry is quite confusing in my opinion. The mouse worked, however. This is the output of "hwinfo --mouse" out of a running system: 18: USB 00.2: 10503 USB Mouse [Created at usb.122] Unique ID: Eopr.BCep8RIGl_5 Parent ID: uIhY.QumiBCsF43B SysFS ID: /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1d.1/usb3/3-1/3-1:1.2 SysFS BusID: 3-1:1.2 Hardware Class: mouse Model: "Cherry Mikroschalter USB Mouse" Hotplug: USB Vendor: usb 0x046a "Cherry Mikroschalter GmbH" Device: usb 0x0027 Revision: "0.07" Compatible to: int 0x0210 0x0015 Driver: "usbhid" Device File: /dev/input/mice (/dev/input/mouse1) Device Number: char 13:63 (char 13:33) Speed: 1.5 Mbps Driver Info #0: Buttons: 5 Wheels: 1 XFree86 Protocol: explorerps/2 GPM Protocol: exps2 Config Status: cfg=new, avail=yes, need=no, active=unknown Attached to: #15 (Hub) 21: PS/2 00.0: 10500 PS/2 Mouse [Created at input.140] Unique ID: AH6Q.RgweIoOI2K6 Hardware Class: mouse Model: "PS/2 Generic Mouse" Vendor: int 0x0210 Device: int 0x0003 "PS/2 Generic Mouse" Device File: /dev/input/mice (/dev/input/mouse0) Device Number: char 13:63 (char 13:32) Driver Info #0: Buttons: 3 Wheels: 0 XFree86 Protocol: explorerps/2 GPM Protocol: exps2 Config Status: cfg=new, avail=yes, need=no, active=unknown
